About Us

The Blog

V is for Velvet was born out of a special cabin fever, the kind you get when you move back to your hometown (the one you occupied for 18+ years) after college. It started off as an ambitious magazine, then slid into the warm fuzzy place where newborn blogs incubate, wrapped in our good intentions and layers of our favourite outfits.

Basically, around here we're all about fashion. But as 20-somethings with loans to pay and jobs that don't have us rolling in the dough, we know that keeping up with the trends can be pricy. Hell, even if you're not concerned with staying in season, dressing with your own sartorial swagger can still cost a pretty penny. We feel you.

That's why we're up and running: to take your wardrobe to a whole. Notha'. Level. By making it accessible to everyone with some simple styling tricks, DIYs, bargain hunts and a whoooole lotta of love. Beauty and culture? We have that too.

This blog is going to be our bulletin board. Your sneak preview. A jumping off point. A chronicle of the times. It's our online hangout to keep you posted, in the know, and of course, ever so stylish. So tune in, turn on, drop out, drop in, switch off, switch on and follow us!

The Team

"Confession: I suck at wrapping gifts. I'm the one who recycles a bag from someone else, uses newsprint, or crumples the wrapping paper -- not on purpose. I'm infamous for it. My style philosophy used to be pretty much the same: the inside was what counted. Then I stumbled on the wonderful world of fashion bloggers, and saw that every day was another chance to be the most badass, shiny papered box on the gift table."

"Throughout my life, I've gone through so many stages in fashion that, looking back, it almost makes me dizzy! From tom-boy, to geek-chic, to high heels and everything in between (including some I'm not so proud of), I've come to realize that personal style is all about reinvention. Every year I can look back on my style and think: I've come a long way. There is a world of possibilities in fashion and style, why not discover them all?"
